Take the 287 Challenge

Recently, the Environmental Working Group published the shocking results of its umbilical cord blood study: 287 toxic chemicals were found in the bloodstream of newborns.  180 were carcinogenic, 217 were toxic to the brain and nervous system, and 208 have been shown to cause birth defects or abnormalities in animal tests. The cord blood contained pesticides, chemical ingredients from consumer products, airborne pollutants, and industrial chemicals. (Read more about this study, here. )

Where is it all coming from? The answer: our industrialized and highly developed society. From the products we consume and the processes it takes to create these products.
And where is it all ending up? In our bloodstreams.

What’s In Your Blood?

Trivani is asking, ‘What’s In Your Blood?’ CNN sent one of their top anchors to find out. Anderson Cooper underwent a Body Burden Test to learn what chemicals he, unknowingly, had flowing in his bloodstream. To see his results, watch the video clip here.

Body Burden Tests are specialized and expensive. So what can you do to find out what’s in your blood? Take the 287 Challenge. We invite you to compare the ingredient lists on the packages of your personal care products with the lists of hazardous chemical ingredients listed here. You may be shocked to learn what you are actually rubbing into your skin, ingesting when you brush your teeth, and absorbing when you put on your deodorant.

EPA Decision Validates Trivani’s Position on Hazardous Ingredients

September 2009 EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson finally announced that the EPA intends to reform its chemical management laws. “We know far too little about chemicals coming into the market,” Jackson said. “The EPA needs the tools to do the job that the public expects.”

This is HUGE news!

Trivani has been sounding the alarm about toxic chemical ingredients ever since we opened our doors. Finally, someone is listening. CEO Bob Steed has referred to the unacknowledged toxins and carcinogens in the personal care industry as one of the greatest consumer cover-ups of our time.

This issue used to be considered the hobby horse of naturalists or health fanatics, but recent studies and media coverage have made it front page news. EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson referred to the 287 umbilical cord study when she announced that the EPA would be sending chemical reform goals before congress, and Ken Cook, President of the Environmental Working Group (EWG) said, “These children are living proof that the current law, a relic of the Ford administration’s waning days, is worse than useless.”

The whistle has been blown on every company that has irresponsibly allowed harmful chemicals in their personal care products. While we are thrilled that the EPA has taken this important step, it will be years before companies and manufacturers can bring their policies and production into alignment with new government requirements.  Fortunately, consumers do not have to wait years for safe, effective products. Trivani’s nutritional and personal care products have always adhered to the high standards of our Do No Harm Philosophy™. (link)

We’ve been saying it all along. It’s not a marketing ploy. It’s a fundamental truth that there are dangerous chemicals lurking in shampoos, lotions, deodorants, etc. So let’s get the 287 challenge out to everyone. The EPA’s decision is a victory for all consumers, and a BIG, BIG, BIG victory for all Trivani distributors.
